Crisis Management

Schools and school communities can be de-stablised by tragic events where students and staff have been seriously inured or killed. The normal functioning of the school may be disrupted and some of those in the school are likely to experience serious emotional distress in the short and/or long term.

Schools have a responsibility to manage the reactions of students and teachers, to foster physical, social and psychological well-being after a traumatic event. Such occurrences have been variously called Traumatic Incidents, Critical Incidents, Crises, Disasters and Emergencies.
